Hunnibell Racing > 28th February 2015, Western Springs

Heat one we started off grid 11. Being the 10th event out on track the surface was quite cut up and big holes were forming but we managed to power forward to finish 4th.

Our second heat we started off grid 2 and got off to a good start but the challenging track meant there was limited passing and if you went through a hole that unsettled the car it gave others the opportunity to pass. We managed to stay near the front of the field finishing 3rd. Our finishing positions qualified us to start 7th in the feature race.

We got off to a great start and moved up the field before a yellow came on for a jumped start. Under a full restart we didn’t quite get the start we wanted this time around. Most people were running the pole line which meant limited passing, we were sitting in about 6th position when a yellow came on for a car that had stopped on track. After the restart we struggled with the steering in the car, it felt as though the car just wanted to keep turning hard right. We held on for a few laps before dropping a few positions and deciding the best and safest option was to pull off. Upon inspection of the car after the race it appeared the front right shock was bent and seized which may have been part of the issue with the steering. It wasn’t a bad nights racing, we had the pace but the track wasn’t an ideal race surface.
