Hunnibell Racing > 20th February 2015, Ruapuna

Night one consisted of 3 heat races. Heat one we started off grid 12. We managed to make our way forward through the field to 5th position. There was a yellow with about 3 to go and the car in front of us did not take throttle which set us back a bit, Peter then felt the car had gone off with a few laps to go. We dropped back to finish in 8th position, upon examining the car after the race we found that the cambelt had lost a section of teeth. The team worked hard to change this before our next race.

Our second heat we started off grid 6. We moved forward through the field and were doing battle with Stratford’s Duane Hickman exchanging slide jobs when we over did it on the last lap and spun. We restarted from the rear of the field and managed to power back up to finish in 6th position.

Our third heat race we started out of grid 4 and went around the outside to move to 2nd position on the first lap where we stayed for the remainder of the race. At the end of the first night we were sitting on the bubble with 16 points.
