Hunnibell Racing > 8th March 2015, Western Springs

Due to bad weather we were forced to race on Sunday Night, even with the rain we were given a decent race track. Our first heat we started off grid 7. We managed to move forward to finish 4th setting the quickest time of the race with a 14.126.

Our second heat we started off grid 2 and made a pass between two cars in turn one to take the lead, we held onto our lead to finish 1st.

Due to other competitors not attending the final night we also qualified for the Bronze –Silver – Gold Shoot out. We were in the Bronze group and had the quickest time of the group so advanced to the Silver group, unfortunately we were a fraction off the pace of the other cars and did not get a chance to progress to the Gold shoot out.

With the format for the Barry Butterworth memorial (fastest off the back) we started the 40 lap feature in 10th position. We didn’t get off to a very good start but slowly progressed forward again, we had a great battle mid-pack for about 10 laps before a yellow came out. We were running the bottom with a lot of others which meant limited passing, so we attempted to go high which worked for us but unfortunately other cars decided to move up high at the same time and we made contact but were lucky to keep going. Two laps later we weren’t so lucky, we were attempting to pass a car for 4th position on and ran out of a space and had to jam on the breaks to avoid major contact and we brake stalled the car. We restarted with 2 laps to go from the rear of the field and were able to power back around the outside to finish 7th!
